A bible verse wallpaper has one job: to put a line of scripture where you will actually read it, over and over, without deciding to. That is the lock screen. So every design here starts from the words and works outward, and the art underneath is built to get out of their way.
The verses, and where they come from
Twelve of the thirty-three are psalms, because that is where the short, memorable lines live: [Psalm 23:1](#wp-verse-psalm-23-1), [Psalm 46:10](#wp-verse-psalm-46-10), [Psalm 27:1](#wp-verse-psalm-27-1) and nine more. Proverbs gives us two, one about trusting and one about strength. Isaiah brings the three that people reach for when they are frightened. The gospels and Paul's letters cover the rest, from [John 8:12](#wp-verse-john-8-12) to [Ephesians 2:8](#wp-verse-ephesians-2-8). English text is the King James Version and Spanish is Reina-Valera, both in the public domain, both quoted exactly.
Five visual styles, so a verse can match a room
Watercolour is the largest group: washes of sage, blush, marigold and turquoise with the pigment left to granulate at the edges. Floral and botanical covers the pressed wildflowers of [Proverbs 3:5](#wp-verse-proverbs-3-5), the dusty roses of [1 Corinthians 13:4](#wp-verse-1-corinthians-13-4) and the taupe feathers of [Psalm 91:4](#wp-verse-psalm-91-4). Landscape and sky is the widest set: ridges, ranges, fog, dunes, wheat and a real milky way. Minimalist type means no picture at all, just a colour field and a sentence. Gold on dark is the smallest and the most striking, four designs where the letters are the only warm thing on the screen.
Colour moods, including a true dark set
If your phone is on light mode all day, the cream, sage and blush designs sit under app icons without fighting them.
