How to Set a Wallpaper

Setting a new wallpaper takes under a minute on any device. Every design on this site comes as two files: a Phone version, 1024 x 1536 pixels in a tall 2:3 shape, and a Desktop version, 1536 x 1024 pixels in a wide 3:2 shape. Download the one that matches the screen you are decorating and the rest is a couple of taps.

How do I set a wallpaper on my iPhone?

1. Download the Phone version of the wallpaper (it opens in your browser: long-press and choose Add to Photos, or use the share icon → Save Image).
2. Open Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper, pick the image from Photos.
3. Adjust the crop if you like, then set it for the Lock Screen, Home Screen or both.

How do I set a wallpaper on Android?

1. Download the Phone version (tap the button, then open it from your notifications or Downloads).

Match the orientation to the device, not the size of the screen. The Phone file is portrait, so it belongs on a phone, a watch face or a tablet held upright. The Desktop file is landscape, so it belongs on a laptop, a monitor or a tablet held sideways. Using the wrong one is the single most common reason a wallpaper ends up stretched.

Why does my wallpaper look zoomed in or cropped?

Because phone screens are taller than the file. The Phone version is a 2:3 shape, while most modern handsets are closer to 9:19.5, so your system scales the image to fill the screen and trims a little from the top and bottom. Our designs are composed with the subject centered and margin around it, so nothing important disappears. If the crop still bothers you, pinch and drag the image on the preview screen before you confirm it.

Can I use different wallpapers on my lock screen and home screen?

Yes, on both iPhone and Android. When you confirm a wallpaper, choose Set Lock Screen or Set Home Screen instead of both. A good pairing is a busy, detailed design on the lock screen, where nothing sits on top of it, and a calmer one on the home screen, where your app icons need room to stay readable.

Are the wallpapers free to use?
