Wallpapers by Color

Three palettes are live here, black, pink and blue, with six designs in each. Every set mixes techniques, so one color can still give you a marble, a fabric, a soft gradient or a single object on an empty field.

Black

The black wallpapers are mostly empty space with one accent. Gold Lines draws two thin gold curves across the dark, Silver Crescent is a lone sliver of moon, and Rose Noir is a black rose flecked with light. Black Marble and Black Silk bring texture without adding any color at all, and Geo Minimal is a handful of hairline arcs and lines.

Pink

Pink runs warmer and fuller. Cherry petals drift down, a satin sheet ripples, cotton candy clouds pile up into a tower, and a neon ring glows inside pink cloud. Heart Bokeh and Strawberry Swirl round out the six. Most of the tones sit near blush and peach, so the set reads sweet rather than hot.

Blue

The blue set covers the widest range of the three. It starts with a plain sky gradient and a deep navy screen holding one soft glow, then moves to stylized ocean waves, watercolor clouds, blue marble with gold veins and a bright sky full of blue butterflies. If you want a background that stays out of the way, the two plain ones are the safest picks.

Does a black wallpaper save battery?

On a phone with an OLED or AMOLED screen, yes, a little. Those panels switch black pixels off, so a mostly black image draws less power than a bright one. On LCD screens the backlight stays on whatever you display, so there the color makes no difference to battery life.
