Quote Wallpapers

Two collections share this page, and they work in different ways. The motivational wallpapers are six short English lines set over soft skies and gradients: Keep Going, Breathe, Make It Happen, One Day at a Time, You Got This and Dream Big. The Bible verse wallpapers are a larger set of thirty-three, one verse per design.

How the words get onto the image

For the verse set the background is made first, with no lettering at all, and the verse is typeset on top afterwards. That keeps every word spelled exactly as written. English uses the King James Version and the Spanish pages use Reina-Valera, both in the public domain. Twelve of the thirty-three are psalms, from Psalm 23:1 on sage watercolor to Psalm 27:1 in gold on navy. The motivational six keep their English wording on the Spanish pages too.

Do quote wallpapers help with motivation?

They work like a note on the fridge. You see the line every time you pick up the phone, so a short phrase sinks in through repetition. Choose one that fits what you are dealing with right now, put it on the lock screen, and swap it for another when you stop noticing it.

Reading them on a small screen

Short lines read best. In most of these designs the text sits in the middle or lower half, clear of the clock, and the rest of the picture stays quiet: a misty lake, a few clouds, a starfield. Dream Big is the darkest of the motivational set and the easiest to read at night.
